Check out these preview interviews to hear how players are preparing to tackle Royal Birkdale. As you’ll learn, players have to make a lot of adjustments, from simple ones like the time difference to more complicated changes like altering their natural shot-shape and trajectory to battle the wind and course set-up that is not like anything they’ve faced this year.
Zach also talks about the flooding that has devastated his hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and what he and the PGA Tour are doing to help people recover.

With the season’s third major championship looming this week at Royal Birkdale, Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell (Classics Dry Premiere style #50603) fired a final round 3-under 68 Sunday to win The Barclays Scottish Open by two shots at Loch Lomond Golf Club. The win, McDowell’s second on The European Tour this season after a victory at the Ballantine’s Championship in South Korea in March, lifted the 28 year old from tenth to sixth in the standings for The Ryder Cup. More importantly, he demonstrated steady nerves down the stretch as he rolled in three consecutive birdies on the back nine to pull away from a world-class field of players, including three of the top six in the World Golf Rankings, who had come to Loch Lomond to tune up for this week’s Open Championship.

SciFlex loyalist Kenny Perry emerged victorious from a three-man playoff Sunday to win the John Deere Classic and escape with his third victory in five starts. Perry finished regulation tied for the lead with a 16-under 268 total and returned to the 18th tee for the first extra hole. After both his competitors hit their approach shots into the pond, Perry tapped in from 16 inches for par and the win. He picked the ball out of the cup and raised both arms, an ear-to-ear grin crossing his face…and for good reason.
He’s enjoying the best stretch of his career, collected $756,000 with his 12th career victory, moved into second place in the FedEx Cup Standings and second on the season’s Money List. He’s also all but guaranteed himself a spot on the Ryder Cup Team, something that has been top priority all season with the chance to play for the U.S. team in front of his home fans in Kentucky.
Perry lost a playoff at the AT&T Classic in May and won the Memorial two weeks later. He tied for sixth at the Travelers Championship and closed out June with another win at the Buick Open, giving him four top-six finishes in six starts.
FootJoy was the most worn glove and shoe at the John Deere Classic with twice as many gloves and more than three times as many shoes as the nearest competitor.

Ross Fisher capped off a terrific week by winning The European Open in emphatic style Sunday at The London Golf Club. Just days after going through qualifying to earn a spot in The Open Championship, the 27 year old Englishman, who began the tournament with a course-record 63, completed a majestic seven stroke win by holing a bunker shot on the last to close with a 4-under 68. Beginning the final round with a three shot lead, Fisher all but put the tournament out of reach with a 50 foot eagle putt on the fifth hole and finished the week with a 20-under 268 total.
As outlined in our European “Tour Insider,” below, Fisher played 36 holes Monday to qualify for The Open Championship in two weeks. He considered pulling out of this week’s tournament due to exhaustion but can rest peacefully now knowing he defeated many former, and possibly future, Ryder Cup veterans en route to victory…something he may add to his resume later this year after moving from 21st to 11th in the Ryder Cup points standings.
Fisher relied on Clasics Tour style #51315 shoes, FootJoy Performance Outerwear and ProDry Extreme Crew socks to overcome adverse weather conditions and a world-class field en route to his second European Tour victory.
“They say the second win is harder. I might have made it look easy, but it certainly wasn’t.”

Glorious sunshine this week at The London Club, where tired players and caddies arrived on Tuesday following 36 holes at Sunningdale for International Final Qualifying the previous day. We saw Ross Fisher (RIGHT), fresh from qualifying for this years Open, practicing in his Classics Tour early in the week.
Alejandro Canizares, who usually wears only Contour, collected a new pair of DryJoys Tech style #53502.
Peter O’Malley picked up two new pairs of ReelFit, style #53832 and #53859.
Alex Noren is trying a new pair of Classics Tour, style #51315. Up until now he has always worn Classics Dry Premiere, however heading into the summer season in Europe he is looking for a shoe which offers him the same support, but a bit lighter with some additional cushioning, to help with the firmer fairways.
Danny Willett, the former World #1 Amateur, visted the truck to pick up some FootJoy ProDry socks, and was proudly displaying his FJ alliegance with an FJ on his collar
Spikeless MyJoys are proving to be a popular choice of footwear amongst the caddies on the European Tour (See images below).
